Probably, everyone is familiar with the painful state that is common in the middle of winter, when you don’t want to get up in the morning, when tiredness does not let go, and the mood remains minor even on weekends.

Can the situation be changed? Undoubtedly! – convinced psychologist, specialist in interpersonal relations Lada Rusinova. How? You need to create an island of summer around yourself.

First, let’s decide: what do we lack in winter and what is in abundance in the summer months?

Firstly, we love summer for the warmth, secondly – for the sunlight, thirdly – for the greenery, both in the environment and on the table, fourthly – for bright colors and smells, fifthly – for summer entertainment such as swimming in bodies of water.

Meanwhile, all these components of summer can easily be found in the middle of winter and decorate gloomy cold weekdays with them. And for this you do not need to go to exotic countries.

Lack of daylight leads to depression – this is a well-known fact. Therefore, in winter, you need to take every opportunity to catch the sun. But even in cloudy weather, one hour of walking during the lunch break will certainly count towards vitamin D, which is produced in our body under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, which penetrates even through the thickness of the clouds.

Once a week, you can afford to go to the solarium – not in order to sunbathe (this, according to dermatologists, is just harmful), but in order to start the process of producing serotonin, which is also called the hormone of happiness. A session of 2-3 minutes is enough to improve your mood noticeably.

After a dank autumn, we rejoice at a white, even snow, but a month passes, then another – and the monotony of colors begins to suppress our psyche. Unfortunately, we often do not realize that the reason for our despondency is that there are not enough colors in our life. And that it is worth blooming the space around you, as a positive mood will return.

Since it is not within our power to change the landscape outside the window, all attention can be paid to the interior. Yellow and orange colors will come to the rescue, which are associated with the sun and heat, stimulate brain and muscle activity.

Of course, no one offers to repaint the walls of your home yellow or buy orange furniture. But you can temporarily change some interior details – curtains, cushions, posters, rugs – for brighter ones.

Step 3: find summer scents

Each season smells differently. Summer is primarily associated with the smell of flowering plants. Finding floral scents in winter is not so difficult, especially since the flowers themselves are not needed at all for this.

To create a summer atmosphere in the house, flower essential oils – geranium, jasmine, lavender, rose, chamomile – are suitable. By the way, each of the oils has one or another therapeutic property. Depending on your preference, add them according to the instructions in aroma lamps, use when taking a bath.

Step 4: open the green island

No less than the sun, in winter we lack greenery. And yet there are paradises, going to which, we seem to return to summer. We are talking, of course, about winter gardens and greenhouses. There are not only tropical bushes, a scattering of flowers and a lot of light, like at noon – there the air is so humid and so densely filled with the smell of green leaves that it seems that a downpour passed just a minute ago. If you want to be in an oasis in the middle of winter – use this opportunity.

Step 5: splash in the waves

The summer atmosphere also reigns in the pools. The water, of course, is not sea water, but it is quite possible to swim and relax. It is from the second half of winter that it is recommended to sign up for swimming sessions. You don’t want to meet spring with flabby skin and extra pounds, do you? So it’s time to swim! Well, in Yaroslavl, another oasis of summer, of course, is the dolphinarium. This is where everything reminds of the south, the sun and the sea! If you wish, you can swim with the dolphins. They are, by the way, “natural therapists” – communication with them will cure any depression.
