Felt Phellodon (Phellodon tomentosus)

Refers to blackberry mushrooms, of which there are quite a few species in our country, but they are rarely found. The exception is just felted fellodon. It has a hat up to 5 cm in diameter, rusty-brown in color with concentric zones. The shape of the cap is cup-shaped-concave, the texture is leathery, there is a felt coating. From the bottom of the cap are thorns, first white and then grayish. The leg is brown, naked, short, shiny and silky. The spores of the fungus are spherical, colorless, 5 µm in diameter, with thorns.

felted fellodon occurs quite often, grows in August-October in mixed and coniferous forests. It breeds best in pine forests. Belongs to the category of inedible mushrooms.

In appearance, it is very similar to the striped blackberry, also inedible. However, the latter is characterized by more slender fruiting bodies, dark rusty flesh and brown spikes.
