Clay in general, also called clay, is a natural cosmetic ingredient with proven purifying efficacy. Used in many civilizations, this powder resulting from the erosion of rocks, rich in minerals, allows to heal the skin. Pink clay, which is a mixture, is particularly recommended for sensitive skin.

What is pink clay?

Clays in general absorb all the impurities present on the skin or on the scalp. In return, they provide the epidermis with minerals and trace elements.

Pink clay does not exist as it is in the natural state, it is a mixture, in equal quantities, of white clay and red clay. White clay is composed of kaolinite (hydrated aluminum silicate). For its part, red clay also contains hydrated aluminum silicate, but also iron oxide and other different minerals.

The pink clay thus obtained is, by its composition, less aggressive than green clay. This one, very mineralized, absorbs a lot. So much so that it can give a feeling of stripped skin. Green clay is therefore recommended above all for oily skin and other clays for more sensitive skin.

The benefits of pink clay for the skin

Like all clays, pink clay has a great absorbing power, both sebum and toxins. But in a less intense and less aggressive way than green clay.

Pink clay is therefore suitable for sensitive and / or dry skin. Indeed, white clay, thanks to kaolin, has healing properties. If you have irritations or small lesions from dryness, pink clay will provide you with effective nutrients.

It also allows mature skin to be full of essential minerals and accelerate cell renewal. It is therefore an excellent anti-aging ingredient.

Paradoxically, the red clay contained in the pink clay helps reduce redness. Nevertheless, its contribution in red dye gives good glow and awakens the complexion in general.

Pink clay is therefore a good cosmetic ingredient to provide minerals to the skin, while mattifying the complexion.

Using pink clay

The pink clay mask recipe

A pink clay face mask is very easy to prepare. Pour into a bowl one volume of clay for 1,5 volumes of water. Mix with a wooden or plastic spoon but especially not metallic, otherwise the mixture will oxidize.

To prevent it from drying out and drying out your skin, apply the pink clay in a very thick layer. Likewise, don’t wait for the mask to get dry and crackle. It should always be damp when removing it. In other words, 10 to 15 minutes is enough. But if the mask starts to harden before, remove it.

Likewise, a pink clay mask does not, like other clays, need to be used too often. If you have sensitive skin, once or twice a month is sufficient.

You can also use pink clay as a cosmetic ingredient for your preparations. Or piecemeal, by adding other natural products such as honey to the water-clay mixture. This will allow you to create a mask that is both purifying and nourishing.

Pink clay for hair

Pink clay, like other clays, is also used on the scalp. The preparation of the mask is the same as for the face.

Apply line by line the clay and impregnate the scalp by massaging delicately. If you have long hair, tie it into a bun while the mask works.

This type of mask with pink clay allows sensitive scalps to regain strength thanks to the minerals. This treatment is also particularly suitable for oily hair at the root but dry at the ends.

However, do not stretch the preparation to the tips, it could dry out.

Where to buy pink clay?

There are different ways to get pink clay. You can find it in powder, in drugstores or in organic stores, or of course on the Internet. To avoid unpleasant surprises, choose recognized sites and products that perfectly mention the composition of the clay.

You can also find ready-made pink clay, in a tube most often. So you won’t need to mix it with water. It’s very convenient if you don’t have a lot of time. However, check that the product only includes these two ingredients, clay and water.

Last option, if you already have red clay and white clay, just mix them in equal doses to get pink clay.
